How these relationships are maintained

This directory, all formulas, converter inputs, and reference tables are generated from the same unit definitions. Read the conversion methodology for exact definitions, temperature offsets, precision, and build-time checks.

Frequently asked questions

What is a base unit in this reference?

A base unit is the common intermediate used by Convr for a category. Linear conversions change the source to that base and then from the base to the target, keeping all pair relationships consistent.

Why are temperature units different?

Temperature scales can have different degree sizes and zero points. Convr therefore uses both a scale factor and an offset instead of treating temperature as a simple multiplication.

Are US and Imperial units kept separate?

Yes. US and Imperial gallons, quarts, pints, and fluid ounces are labeled separately because their volumes are different. Ton definitions are also named explicitly.
