About Convr

Convr is a fast, free unit conversion reference built to make everyday measurements easy to understand. Every page combines an instant converter with a readable formula, worked example, reference values, and plain-language guidance.

How calculations stay consistent

One data source

Every linear conversion passes through a defined base unit. Factors are stored once and reused by the calculator, formulas, tables, and generated pages.

Temperature offsets

Temperature is handled separately because Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine require scale and offset—not multiplication alone.

Final-step rounding

Convr calculates with full JavaScript numeric precision and rounds only the displayed result. The default maximum is 6 decimal places.

Precision is not measurement certainty

Choosing 2, 4, 6, or 8 displayed decimal places changes presentation only. It does not make the original measurement more accurate. For scientific, engineering, legal-metrology, or regulated work, keep only the significant digits justified by the source measurement and applicable standard.

Reference standards

Convr’s methodology follows the SI framework and published conversion guidance. NIST recommends using exact conversion factors when available, retaining intermediate digits, and rounding only the final calculated quantity.

Technical approach

Pages are generated as static HTML and calculations run locally in the browser. No account, server request, or personal measurement data is required to use a converter.
