How content is prepared
Editorial policy
Effective: August 16, 2026
Convr publishes calculators, reference tables, concise conversion explanations, FAQs, and longer measurement guides. This policy explains how topics are selected, which sources take priority, how automated assistance is used, and how errors are corrected.
Editorial purpose
Content should help a visitor complete a conversion and understand the relationship behind it. A useful page answers the immediate question, states the units unambiguously, exposes the formula, gives a worked example, and adds context that prevents a common mistake.
Pages are written for general informational and educational use. They do not replace a calibrated instrument, official regulation, product specification, or qualified professional judgment.
Topic selection
Priority goes to conversion pairs with clear everyday or technical intent: metric and customary comparisons, kitchen and fuel volumes, body and parcel mass, weather temperatures, road speeds, navigation units, and SI scales. Reverse directions receive separate pages because users search for and reason about each direction differently.
Longer guides address concepts that cannot be explained well inside a single calculator, such as significant figures, US versus Imperial gallons, temperature offsets, compound units, mass versus weight, nautical miles, and SI prefixes.
Source hierarchy
Official definitions and primary standards come first. The BIPM SI Brochure and NIST measurement guidance provide the core framework for SI units, exact relationships, notation, and conversion practice. Defined customary relationships are tied back to SI values wherever possible.
Secondary reference material may help identify usage context, but it does not override an official definition. When a name is ambiguous, the content states the system explicitly rather than choosing a silent assumption.
Calculation and factual review
Conversion factors are not embedded independently in articles. They live in the project’s common unit dataset and generate calculators, formulas, tables, and routes. Editorial frontmatter identifies the exact source and destination units and must match the generated formula. The production build fails when those fields disagree.
Reviewed pages receive an editorial badge only when a dedicated content file exists for that route. Programmatic pages still include generated formulas, examples, reference values, and FAQ content, but they do not claim the same route-specific editorial treatment.
Automated assistance
Convr is developed with automated coding and writing assistance. Assistance may be used to draft explanations, propose examples, check consistency, generate repetitive page structures, and run technical validations. It is not treated as an authoritative source for measurement definitions.
Published conversion relationships must resolve to the controlled unit dataset, and the build verifies route, unit, and formula consistency. Editorial text is reviewed for relevance, ambiguity, unsupported precision, and conflicts with the displayed calculation before it is committed and deployed.
Originality and useful content
Each editorial page should add information specific to its unit pair rather than repeat a generic paragraph with names substituted. Examples include distinguishing mass ounces from fluid ounces, explaining why a nautical mile differs from a statute mile, or noting that cubic conversion factors must be raised to the third power.
Long-form guides are organized around a distinct question and connect back to relevant calculators. Content is not padded merely to reach a word count, and pages without a useful distinction remain generated from the transparent conversion template.
Precision language
The words exact, approximately, and rounded are used deliberately. A defined factor may be exact while its short decimal display is approximate. Additional decimal places are never described as additional measurement accuracy. Scientific and regulated contexts are reminded to preserve justified significant figures and consult applicable standards.
Advertising and independence
Advertising may support the site after the relevant service is activated and documented. Advertising does not determine conversion factors, editorial conclusions, topic explanations, or the order of numerical results. Sponsored claims are not inserted into formulas or reference guidance.
Updates and corrections
Content may be updated when standards, terminology, product behavior, internal links, or explanatory needs change. Material updates receive a revised review date. Technical validation runs again whenever the site is built.
Readers can report a suspected error through the Contact page. A useful report includes the page URL, the disputed sentence or result, the expected correction, and a primary reference when available. Confirmed errors are corrected at the shared data source when appropriate so all dependent pages remain consistent.
